Addison reunites with her friends from medical school, Naomi and Sam Bennett, joining them at their chic, co-op, Oceanside Wellness Center in Santa Monica. Naomi, a fertility and hormone specialist and majority owner of the clinic, and Sam, an internist whose self-help books have made him the “common man’s medical guru,” are newly divorced. They co-exist for the sake of their teenaged daughter, Maya, and their medical practice, but the relationship is hardly amicable.

The center’s resident pediatrician is Dr. Cooper Freedman, whose success in his profession belies his rocky personal life. He’s a serial internet dater who is always attracted to the wrong woman. Most dates end badly for him; some even end in petty or grand theft.

Cooper finds solace and counsel in his closest friend, co-op psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner - but she’s no luckier in love. Able to deftly advise her patients in their relationships, she’s intense, determined and unwilling to let outsiders see the obvious cracks in her veneer. Inside, Violet is crumbling after her recent breakup with an ex who has already moved on and married.

Dr. Pete Wilder is the alternative medicine specialist at the practice. Attractive and assured, Pete is a “catch” by any standard; in fact, he’s already caught Addison’s eye, and he, hers. Though the chemistry is immediate and palpable between the two, Pete’s cockiness and confidence conceal a man still reeling from his wife’s tragic passing eight years beforehand, a man who has been unable to truly connect with a woman since. With Addison starting anew in Los Angeles, Pete may chance new beginnings in his own life.

Witness to it all at the co-op is the receptionist, William Dell Parker. Young, quirky and confident, Dell may seem like an easygoing surfer, but he’s deeply interested in the medical profession. In Addison, he sees the chance to have a mentor and pursue his dream — becoming a midwife.

Coming in direct conflict with the co-op doctors is Charlotte King, the Chief of Staff of the nearby hospital. A southerner who does not suffer fools gladly, Charlotte believes that the co-op doctors’ patient care methods are unorthodox and, therefore, inferior to her own.

For Addison, an old friend’s invitation brings her to a new city and a new life full of promise. At Oceanside Wellness Center, the doctors are dedicated pros; it’s their private lives that need a little practice.

After a grueling non-stop race that lasted two legs, teams finally saw the light at the end of that arduous journey.

THE BEST PEOPLE IN KOREA - THE LOCAL POLICE
Teams must now drive themselves 80km to the south of Korea, to Seoil Farm, a soya bean paste manufacturer in Anseong, a city in the Gyeonggi Province.

Dashing out of the pitstop, Marc and Rovilson have no idea which direction to go, so they end up stopping and ask for directions from the best possible people in Korea ¡V the local police.

Despite not understanding a word of English, the charms of Marc and Rovilson win the policemen over and the officers even go beyond the call of their duty. Instead of simply directing the pair the right way, all three police cars clear the roads for them.

As they follow the police cars, the buddies are elated to discover that all the road signs are in Korean, making it impossible for any of the other teams to navigate the streets on their own. “All the signs are in Korean. Fantastic,” proclaims Marc, as the police pull to the side and instruct the duo to take the highway to their destination. “This is where we pull over and hug the police.”

As expected, the other teams do have some difficulty finding their way. Barely starting their new journey, Terri starts showing her frustration with Henry, who drives off without any idea of where to go. Screams an angry Terri, “We don’t have a map. We don’t have a map yet! We just keep going and going.”

One of the few teams who have been taking things slowly, the always cheerful Paula recognizes the need to speed things up. In this case however, speed has to be curtailed since driving on the other side of the road in Korea throws off most of the teams. Admits Natasha, “This is a challenge, driving on the wrong side of the road, seeing how I drive anyway.”

The last to leave the pitstop, the dancing mothers are making it a point to not end up the last again. “We just need to run a little bit faster, push ourselves a lot more and see what we can achieve,” says Ann.

And despite the other teams expressing their unhappiness with Ann and Diane, the duo does not feel that they are rubbing anyone the wrong way. “That’s not our style. We’re nice friendly people,” she finishes with a laugh.

Their primary targets are Marc and Rovilson. “If we have a chance to use a yield, we would use it on them because they are just too strong.”

SPEED RACER
Driving on the roads, many of the other teams start speeding to stay ahead, but not Collin and Adrian. Intent to keep things slow and steady, Collin refuses to take unnecessary risks. “I’m just going to keep a safe pace. If they overtake us, they overtake us,” he says of the other teams.

And despite being the second to leave the pitstop, this decision allows others to pick up speed and catch up with the guys.

Up ahead, Natasha and Paula arrive at the toll booth and at this point, the bubble, or more specifically, a tire, bursts for the two girls. Upon entering the toll area, a nervous Natasha makes a small nudge on the steering wheel, which results in the car smashing fiercely into something, causing the vehicle to jerk wildly.

Stopping the car, a shocked Paula rushes out to see if things are all right. “What happened,” she asks an equally disturbed Natasha. As it turns out, Natasha smashes the front right tire into a road divider which deflates the wheel. A huge gash rips open the side of the tire and even the rims are dented.

Unsure of what to do, the best friends approach some policemen for help with changing their tire. This little hiccup allows Collin and Adrian to catch up, as well as Ann and Diane.

BEAN THERE, DO THAT (PART 1)
First to get to the farm, Marc and Rovilson meet their latest roadblock. At Seoil Farm, one of the more prestigious farms producing Korean sauces, one teammate must look through 1,500 soya bean urns for their next clue. With each urn about one meter high, the task will be strenuous as the teammate must lift the heavy lids to uncover the clue.

As an incentive, one of the jars also holds a bonus US$50 together with the clue.

Upon seeing the hundreds of urns laid out at the farm, Marc cannot help but be surprised.

“Son of a… gun.” Luckily, he has nothing to worry about, since his partner is the one doing the heavy lifting.

Says Rovilson, “As soon as I get there, I open my first 5 jars, out of the 10 million there, and I hear a ‘hurry up!’.”

Rovilson is growing frustrated looking for the clue. Part of the frustration is not with the task though, but with Marc, who is constantly hounding Rovilson to be faster. Eventually, he picks up the clue, just as Pamela and Vanessa arrive at the farm.

At the farm, Pam finds the open area with the huge urns, but due to their sheer size and number, she is unsure if they are in the right area. Opening a few of them, she ends up breaking one of the lids after losing her grip. Believing she can do the task faster, she starts tapping the side of the jar, hoping that the echo from her taps can give her an indication of the urn’s contents.
